Back from a brief absence

For a long time, with its ups and downs, marble has been a popular type of stone. Unlike, for example, bluestone, marble is a soft material which makes it easy to work with. The possible applications are therefore numerous. Kitchen countertops are just one of them.

Choosing marble, that's choosing an authentic piece. That's choosing a unique item in the kitchen. Nowhere else in the world will you find a countertop with the exact same look. Marble is available in lots of color tones and that, along with the unique pattern, is a strong argument for choosing marble as a material. Moreover, a marble worktop continues to evolve even after installation. The many daily operations in a kitchen may well have an impact on the marble. Just think of the action of acids when spills occur during cooking, just think of the scratching of a key that gets snatched, just think of the spilling of wine while pouring a glass for your guests, ... Versatile material

Marble is a hard material. At the same time, it is soft to the touch and relatively easy to work with. This is obviously music to the ears of the many companies that process marble for all kinds of applications. For kitchen countertops, it involves the cutouts provided for sinks, among other things; other applications of marble involve cutting a particular shape out of a large slab, for example. After all, marble lends itself perfectly to use throughout the home. Kitchen countertops are a striking application thanks to their large size and the fact that the kitchen plays a central role in daily life. Marble also comes into its own beautifully in bathrooms. In addition, all kinds of interior applications are possible, for example, tables with a marble top, fireplace walls, floors, window sills. Numerous lighting manufacturers have discovered marble as a material to work with over the years. A design icon from Flos, particularly the Arco floor luminaire, is a well-known example. A massive block of marble beautifully balances the fixture with its well-known large arch.

Kitchen Jewelry

On to the kitchen, where marble was a popular choice for many years. The rise of other materials, ceramics and composites in the lead, caused a dip in terms of the choice of marble. Not that marble was completely forgotten, but the newer materials with their specific characteristics were preferred by kitchen planners and their customers. However, marble remained - and remains - a rich source to refer back to, as evidenced by the many kitchen countertops in a material other than marble but with a marble look. In recent years, however, natural stone companies have seen an increase in terms of marble countertops and backsplashes. Despite the fact that there are materials that are "more resistant" to daily use, more and more people are consciously choosing marble. The uniqueness of what is called the greatest kitchen surface plays an important role in this. The sensitivities of marble to acids and scratches, for example, are taken into account, it sounds in chorus.
