You know the situation. A dinner party at home with friends, snacks and drinks. Very cozy all around. Much less cozy is the mountain of dishes that logically accumulate and that everyone keeps looking up to. Especially if you have to get it all done by hand. And that's where the dishwasher comes to the rescue. The ideal kitchen helper who can handle this situation and also ensures that you can enjoy the pleasant evening instead of worrying about the dishes or, even worse, doing them.
Besides the great advantage of having the dishes done automatically while you do something else at the same time, using a dishwasher offers some other advantages. Compared to doing everything by hand, you thus save time, as well as money and water. Most dishwashers use a lot less water than what you need for a hand wash. On average, 10 liters of water per program with the dishwasher compared to about 60 liters of water when washing by hand. Add to that the useful features and accessories that are standard today and the difference is obvious. Ditto in terms of energy consumption.
Today we see a pack of appliances where, thanks to a host of smart sensors, the appliance itself measures exactly how many dishes are in the appliance and how dirty they are. Based on that measured data, the appliance automatically adjusts the program. The goal is always to deliver clean dishes by using as little water, energy and detergent as possible.
The noise level is another element that manufacturers pay plenty of attention to. Who wants a kitchen helper that makes so much noise that you can't hear each other?

The various manufacturers offering dishwashers are working day in and day out to work out the most useful features. On almost all machines you will find different programs that you can choose yourself, ranging from super-fast to programs that remove the dirtiest traces of your dishes. Various features are also available to create a beautiful shine on your glasses.
Recently, Miele launched the AutoDos system and an integrated PowerDisk in its new dishwashers. This PowerDisk releases a certain amount of specifically developed powder granules with each revolution, tailored to the washing program in progress. In the ‘Automatic’ program, a sensor measures the degree of soiling of the dishes and, based on this, automatically doses the amount of detergent.
For its part, V-ZUG worked out a dishwasher with an integrated heat pump. In addition, the manufacturer developed a new function that gives glasses a crystal-clear sheen. More information on this elsewhere in this Kitchen Building.
How does a consumer choose the right device? Answering the question is not easy, perhaps even quasi-impossible. It's best to point out to them a number of concerns that may be important to them. Built-in or freestanding? How big should the dishwasher be? What features are important? Because we almost all agree on one thing, a dishwasher in the home is not a luxury.
