In 2007, entrepreneur Rik Dieteren started in Roermond with evictions that was soon followed by storage and removals. Significant growth followed, also in terms of personnel. In the meantime, Rik Dieteren House Clearance and Removals is an established name in Roermond and the surrounding area. The company has a good reputation. Reliability is the credo and that was and is well accepted by the market in recent years. In 2020 - also prompted by the covid period - the next entrepreneurial step was taken: the first and only Waste Collection Service (AOD) in the Netherlands was a fact.
"What we do is actually quite simple," says Rik. "We offer waste removal both for individuals at home and for businesses. We take care of the lifting and lugging, dispose of everything neatly and also deliver it broom clean. We then subsequently transport all the collected waste to the waste processor where a thorough sorting takes place."
Making an appointment is very easy, Rik explains. "You can do that by phone or online through the website. If the appointment is scheduled before 11 a.m., we can almost always pick it up on the same day. When making an appointment, the customer initially makes an estimate of the number of cubic meters of waste himself. Of course I know that estimating is not always easy: that's why the final price is only fixed when our employees see the waste to be removed on site. Our employees have a good insight into this so that our customers never have to pay too much. Business customers pay afterwards by invoice."
Meanwhile, AOD is steadily conquering its place in the kitchen industry. "We offer mechanics professional support: we help them clean up and dispose of disassembled kitchens. This ensures a clean working environment that allows mechanics to work more efficiently and faster. We remove and transport disassembled kitchens to a siding or recycling facility. Also, we take away white goods. That, by the way, is one of the things in which we differ substantially from other waste pickups. So the installer - and also the end customer - has nothing to worry about."
Rik adds, "Getting rid of commercial waste is cheaper than renting a container anyway. And, where do you leave that container? Do you just put it in front of the door? Plus, with us, people pay for the actual amount of waste instead of a container size."
Although the name "Waste Collection Service" suggests that everything - what AOD collects - is actually "waste," it turns out that most waste is often still just usable. "Therefore, we are committed to offering these goods to various parties who can reuse them, such as thrift stores, clothing banks and charities. And only as a last resort; waste processors. Our goal is to find the right party at the right time to reuse the goods. And we almost always succeed, because we have a large network of parties we can turn to. It is our contribution to a more sustainable society: after all, we reduce the demand for new production, we avoid unnecessary waste of valuable resources, and we help communities that benefit from reuse. In other words, we are going for a positive impact for the environment!"
Rik concludes, "The bottom line is that we simply want to make the living and working environment of our customers, including those in the kitchen industry, more pleasant. Everyone is ultimately much more productive in a tidy environment. And time is money! But above all, the age-old credo applies: tidy is good!"
