Matte kitchens are trendy, modern, and elegant. The downside? Matte surfaces are often very delicate: before you know it, they’re covered in fingerprints, shiny spots, or deep scratches. With ADLER NXT, that’s now a thing of the past. The new technology from Austrian paint and varnish manufacturer ADLER ensures robust and durable matte surfaces—without complex system technology.
How does ADLER NXT work? Leon Cremers, director of ADLER Benelux in Heeze, explains: “To achieve a matte finish, you normally use matting agents, which create a micro-rough texture. This structure diffuses light, making the surface appear matte. Unfortunately, these agents are often very sensitive: on extremely matte surfaces, even contact with a fingernail is enough to smooth out the rough texture, causing the surface to become glossy.“
The company has now developed a new raw material technology for ADLER NXT. The paint has a soft, rounded microstructure that looks extremely matte but is not delicate. “This means you can simply run your hands and fingernails over the surface without leaving shiny spots or fingerprints. The matte surfaces created with this technology are just as good as an Excimer coating in terms of scratch resistance and gloss behavior, but much more cost-effective,” says Cremers. “With ADLER NXT, this surface quality is now within reach for all our customers.”

ADLER’s two most popular water-based furniture finishes feature the new NXT formula. For furniture makers and cabinetmakers, the 4-in-1 Bluefin Pigmores NXT finish is a suitable option. This low-emission 2K finish is ideal for use on lacquer-coated film, offers excellent chemical and mechanical resistance, and is available in every color of the rainbow. For industrial use, there is the 2K UV varnish Pigmolux HQ NXT. This product is easy to use and offers high resistance. Both varnishes produce an extremely matte finish that does not develop unwanted gloss, offers high scratch resistance, and feels pleasant to the touch.
