Best in Test and Best Buy

We are proud to announce that in the freezer test recently conducted by the Consumers' Association, no fewer than 3 Liebherr freezers ended up on the podium. Two freezers were voted "Best in Test" and the smallest of the three was voted "Best Buy".

The Consumers Union is the independent party that tries to see through, correct and prevent unfair behavior. This is done in part by conducting tests. These independent tests ensure that consumers can make an informed choice and get what they are entitled to.

The test

Several times a year, freezers of different brands are tested. Here, the (in)freezing performance and energy consumption are measured. The freezers are also judged on noise, ease of use and usable space. These are given marks, after which the average determines the final score.

Best in test

The 145.5-centimeter tall FNe 4625 and the 20-centimeter taller FNe 5026 share first place together and are both rated 8.9. This earns these freestanding freezers the Best in Test designation.

The FNe 4625 scores highest on freezing performance with a 9.1. This freezing performance is considered "very good" and "fast" by the Consumers' Association Other benefits mentioned are energy efficiency and temperature stability.

The FNe 5026 scores best on energy consumption with a whopping 10. In addition to scoring high on energy consumption, good freezing performance, high temperature stability and fast freezing are also cited as advantages with this freezer.

Best buy

An important part of determining the winner of Best Buy is energy consumption. Not only is the purchase price considered, but also the expected energy costs over 10 years. The freezer with the best ratio between these 10-year costs and the test rating becomes Best Buy. Of the 30 appliances tested, the 125.5 cm tall Liebherr FNe 4224 stands proudly at the top and is therefore Best Buy.
