Self-reflection is an important competence and the tool for personal and professional growth. Consider your own actions, look back at your own experiences and the choices you make, the skills you use and how that feels. In this way you can get to know yourself and develop further.
Through self-reflection, I have now defined for myself four core values that help me both professionally and privately.
Passion is not something you can learn, but what you feel. It causes you to be deeply interested in something, making you want to know more about it. Or passion may even cause you to excel at something without much pain and effort. It is also a driving force that makes you more relatable. Not everyone can list their passion so 1-2-3, but everyone has it, I'm convinced. And if you feel a passion and can use it professionally, you automatically arrive at the second core value:
Everyone is responsible for their own happiness, I really believe in that. You yourself have to make sure you feel joy every day. How I do that? I use humor. Together with my associate, we always have fun. Not a day goes by without laughing. Of course there are sometimes bumps; there's something every day, but you shouldn't sulk about that. Even your own shortcomings can be laughed at. That can be very enlightening!
With each other you have fun, share a passion, work together, complement or strengthen each other. So very important too. The sum of two people working well together is worth so much more than the sum of the individuals. So; look for good collaborations.
The above three core values are also the vision of our company: they drive us, they connect us and in this we strengthen each other. Personally, I have a fourth core value:
I think it is SO important to learn from the things you do. Keeping your eyes and ears open, seeing and correcting mistakes so that you grow. Mistakes are allowed, it happens to everyone. But they only benefit you if you do something with them and learn from them. Then it is growth. I challenge you to ask yourself whether you are working on your passion. And I do not necessarily mean: what is your passion, but which elements of your work or private life really have to do with passion? Often it's that part that you have a great fascination with. Fortunately, I notice that in the kitchen industry there are also many parties who are involved in that, value it and feel that way. Usually it is craftsmanship combined with innovative techniques, which involves a lot of craftsmanship. In that respect, I am very lucky in my profession, where we work with pleasure, with passion and with each other. How is it with you? Time for some self-reflection perhaps?
