Liebherr: “Great in comfort, great in capacity”

Families are cooking together more often, doing a lot more grocery shopping, and therefore expect ever-greater flexibility and storage space from their kitchen appliances. The demand for more refrigeration and freezer capacity—without compromising on design or energy efficiency—is growing louder and louder. Liebherr is responding to this trend with a new line of fully integrated XXL fridge-freezers and XL refrigerators.

Households that need a lot of storage space are also actively looking for sufficient storage capacity in their refrigerator and/or freezer. They often opt for a second appliance, which then ends up in the pantry. Liebherr developed the new built-in XXL fridge-freezer combination with this target group in mind. “Thanks to an extra-wide design, it offers up to 100 liters more capacity compared to traditional built-in solutions,” explains Bart Kraan of Liebherr. “That naturally means more space for fresh produce, larger packages, and possibly even bulk purchases. All this without the appliance being too visually prominent in the kitchen. With the first single-door built-in refrigerator for a 194-cm niche, a solution is coming to market that makes more efficient use of available cabinet space and creates additional storage volume.”

Freshness remains an important issue

The XXL fridge-refrigerator-freezer combo and the XL built-in refrigerator are just what’s needed for busy and/or large households where there’s always something happening in the kitchen—from a quick breakfast or a lavish family meal to an (un)expected guest joining the table. Households where full grocery bags are the norm no longer have to stack everything neatly. “Thanks to features like the extra-wide BioFresh drawers, everything stays fresh longer so you can plan ahead effortlessly,” explains Kraan. “Fruits and vegetables are stored in the BioFresh Fruit & Vegetable safe at a temperature just above 0 °C and high humidity—the ideal environment for keeping unpackaged fruits and vegetables fresh up to five times longer. The BioFresh Meat & Dairy compartment creates the ideal conditions—a temperature around 0 °C with low humidity—to protect even the most delicate products. Unexpected guests? Then the automatic IceMaker is the perfect companion for keeping drinks perfectly chilled.”

Flexible Storage

Liebherr not only creates plenty of extra storage space, but also adds organization and flexibility. There are two VarioSafes, and thanks to their two-part, height-adjustable design, users can place them exactly where they’re most useful. This ensures that smaller items like yogurt containers, jam jars, or tubes have their own spot. The flexible bottle shelf takes flexibility a step further. “Simply slide this glass shelf aside a bit to place bottles,” explains Kraan. “The rest of the space remains fully usable. And if you need even more room, just remove the shelf entirely.”

Design Behind Closed Doors

The Küchenmeile is the perfect opportunity to showcase new developments. Liebherr will once again be participating in the Architekturwerkstatt in Löhne (Germany), where the XXL fridge-freezer and XL built-in refrigerator will take center stage. “Come open the doors of the appliances and discover the SmartSteel back panel, which gives the interior a sophisticated look,” Kraan invites. “The stainless steel surface is also food-safe and hygienic—yet another feature that helps ensure optimal storage conditions. Also discover the LightTower, which stylishly highlights the products and provides bright, even lighting. Even when the refrigerator is full, all products remain clearly visible.”
