Novy, a market leader in the production of range hoods and cooktops, has acquired Dutch lighting manufacturer Jansen & De Bont. According to Sander van 't Hoen of Novy, with this the company is taking an important step toward offering
integrated kitchen solutions. "In the kitchen, the most important ingredient should always be in good order: light."
"We had been looking for a suitable partner in the lighting sector for some time," Sander explains. "It was important that there would be common ground in terms of sustainable quality, sleek design, innovation and ease of use. We found these with Matthijs Jansen and Jorg de Bont, who had already founded their company while studying at the university in Eindhoven. They had already succeeded in establishing a good market position in the Netherlands with their innovative and high-quality design lighting with an additional focus on sustainability and intuitive operation. For us, this turned out to be the perfect party."
Sander explains that at Novy, designer lighting had already been integrated into its own premium products for some time. "Functional light, combined with ambient light, either in the form of scattered light on the ceiling or integrated into the product itself, creates a more pleasant experience in the kitchen. With the addition of Jansen & De Bont's range of stylish light objects, there is now also a solution for on the wall, above the kitchen island or the dining table. Or, how about if the lamp is integrated into a stylish wall shelf!"
It's the consistently implemented clean design, color scheme and recognizable style elements that make the collection a unified whole," says Sander. "They provide unity in the kitchen lighting and consistency with the range hood and cooktop."
Matthijs Jansen and Jorg de Bont are obviously pleased with the acquisition. "Thanks to Novy's strong international dealer network, our products now reach a much larger market. It is a nice recognition for our work delivered and we can further expand the range qualitatively thanks to Novy's R&D and market knowledge."
For the kitchen manufacturer, of course, there are also many advantages to mention, according to Sander. "The customer now gets a kitchen in which the lighting is perfectly matched to each other, the cooktop and hood. So the kitchen dealer can make up a nice integrated design. I think you can really see this as a classic win-win for everyone. Although, of course, the biggest winner is at the end: and we're talking about the consumer!"
The products will be marketed in the future under the Novy brand name. The entire production of the lighting products will move to Novy's headquarters in Kuurne (B) in the fall, where the development and manufacturing of the hoods and cooktops is also located.
To this end, production is being expanded with a new assembly line and investments are being made in specialized equipment such as a CNC sawing machine and a laser marking machine.
Sander concludes, "Power, Silence and Connect.... That's what it's all about. Novy products do what they are meant to do. They are silent and powerful. With this acquisition and the inclusion of the wonderful innovative products of these two guys from Eindhoven, we can live up to that even more."
