Every year, manufacturers from all sectors, including those in the kitchen industry, look ahead to what the coming year will bring. What trends will emerge, and how do worktops and accessories fit in with them?
Dutch manufacturer Dekker Zevenhuizen also looked to the near future. Together with a Dutch trend watcher, they clearly mapped out some trends and translated this into concrete products for the kitchen. Countertops, taps, sinks and lighting are combined. And it is precisely this combination that makes a trend current. These two striking trends are not to be missed in 2020.
Our own home is our cocoon, a safe haven where we retreat to recover from a long and tiring day. Escape even, from the hustle and bustle around us. We all create our own rituals that we feel good about and that are a tool to unwind. That urge for a moment of rest, and the unique way we do it, is the focus of the trend Eternal Rocks. "As the name somewhat suggests, this does involve imposing and sometimes rough shapes, to even a monumental look," we hear from the manufacturer. "The mostly natural materials and colors are sober and subdued. After all, we are thrifty in our own little world and attach importance to sustainable materials."
The Eternal Rocks style is a combination of concrete, wood, marble and stone. Accent colors are terra and blue. "When we think of Eternal Rocks, we think of sobriety, geometry and durability," we hear at Dekker Zevenhuizen. "Totally Eternal Rocks, for example, is a kitchen with a Toplaminate countertop in the color marble Statue Grey or Statue Black. Add a back wall in Sparkle Gold color and a Lanesto Forte faucet in Gun Metal color and the picture is complete."

Eternal Rocks, that's rough and imposing. Totally different is a second trend that Dekker Zevenhuizen sees becoming popular in 2020. From the importance the world of architecture and interior design places on sustainability, a trend that embraces high-tech and futuristic materials is growing. "Because a sustainable world cannot exist without them," it sounds. "Reflections, colored glass and light reflections with iridescent colors, that's what we see in the trend we call Soft Reflections. Because to still bring the futuristic into our home in an atmospheric way, we add soft fabrics, nude tones and pastels."
Soft Reflections combines accessories of glass, marble, stainless steel and chrome with accents of neon or iridescent colors. "A textbook example of a Soft Reflections kitchen includes TopCore Mahal, a marble look with a matte stone texture," the manufacturer outlines. "The addition of a faucet and sink made of stainless steel and a style element in neo-mint color give the kitchen the finishing touch."
The two trends presented above had their baptism of fire during the past edition of house4kitchen, one of the events organized during the annual Küchenmeile A30. Here Dekker Zevenhuizen showed the translation of these trends into concrete products. From the end of October they also adorn the Dekker Trend Centre, to be seen. by appointment.
