Making a design statement in the bathroom? You also do that by choosing the right bathtub. The latest models are only too happy to fulfill the role of eye-catcher. They do so not only because of their size and shape, but also through the surprising use of color, beautiful detailing and special materials. These ten new models, including several award-winners, caught our eye. Which one do you prefer?
Transparent, but at the same time soft and yet somewhat concealing. New from Riho are the Solid Frosted freestanding baths Oval, Oviedo and Toledo. Available in three colors: Frosted Smoke, Frosted Umber and Frosted Forest. The exterior receives a special treatment that gives the bath a "frosted" matte look. In order not to detract from the design, no classic overflow was provided here. Instead, the bath is equipped with a clic-clac that operates on water pressure and opens automatically when the water level reaches a certain level. An innovative gadget, at the service of design.
This Lugo bathtub, new at O-Plus, should and will also be seen. Not for nothing does it have both a coveted iF Design Award and a Reddot Award on its award shelf. A graphic interplay of lines divides the surface into areas that were filled in with three different textures. The bath is made of Akron, a blend of polyurethane and mineral fillers, finished with a solid polyurethane-acrylic coating. The bath comes complete with siphon and clic-clac in the same color as the tub. Available as standard in black and white, but also available on request in a wide range of RAL colors that allow further personalization of the bathroom.
Even more color at Italian Ideagroup with this Soul bathtub, perfectly round with a diameter of 110 centimeters and height of 51 centimeters. This tub in Mineralsolid is always white inside, but can be finished on the outside in one of Ideagroup's many matte lacquer colors or RAL color of your choice. The optional bench completes the design and enhances the bathing experience in this cozy round tub.
Making the best use of space in the bathroom? You can with this trapezoidal ISensi Trapez Monolith Bi-Colour bathtub by Hoesch, good for a recent German Design Award 2024. This acrylic bath is available in a two-tone version, with white inside and slate gray or black outside. The bath, available in various sizes, can be combined with a whirlpool system
and lighting.
This elegant Biwa sitting bath by the Polish company Marmorin -which is part of Germany's Schock Group- also won a prize and was awarded German Design Award 2024. It was above all the sculptural design, reminiscent of an open flower with its gently curved rim, that was able to convince the jury. The gel-coated Mineralcast bath combines functionality with Japanese bathing traditions and the serene ritual of Ofuro. Thanks to its compact size, the bath also does not take up much space.
Studio F.A. Porsche designed the Qatego bathroom series for Duravit, good for a recent Good Design Award, with clear, reduced objects that at the same time exude naturalness. The series also includes several bathtubs, with built-in, wall-mounted and freestanding models. The standard lumbar support ensures a comfortable sitting position in all these baths. Qatego's freestanding bathtub and rear-wall bathtub are made of DuroCast Plus, a solid mineral composite material with a velvety and pleasantly matte surface.
For even more elegant design, we look north and more specifically to Scandinavia with this Rosenberg bath from Denmark's Copenhagen Bath. This oval bath with basking tub features a stylish plinth that gives it the impression of almost floating. Made of Acovi, a matte solid surface that is pleasant to the touch and is easy to clean and dirt-resistant thanks to its pore-free surface.
This freestanding designer bath, manufactured in one piece from Varicor solid surface, did not go unnoticed either and may boast a German Design Award 2024. Available in around fifty standard colors, it can optionally be further customized with the ColorLine system. Here, a decor is applied seamlessly and permanently into the material. Also optional: precisely fitting add-on solutions that elegantly create additional storage space and complete the design. Varicor is exclusively distributed in Belgium by Engels Surfaces.
None other than Philippe Starck was allowed to sign for AXOR Suite, good for iF Design Award 2023. The range includes both wash basins and a generous bathtub, both of which successfully combine solid surface and metal. In the case of the bathtub, this is in the form of a bath shelf, available in the twelve different AXOR FinishPlus metal options for a personal touch and perfectly fitting overall look.
Italy upholds its reputation as a design country par excellence, including with Ex.t's beautifully designed bathroom products, including this Beam bathtub in LivingTec solid surface. It was designed in 2022 by Sans Nom & Studio Salaris, but since this year it is also available with matching Beam console with basin and wooden cabinet.
