The kitchen has long since ceased to be just a place for cooking. For many consumers, it has become a full-fledged part of the home’s interior: a space where materials, colors, shapes, and lifestyle come together. For kitchen retailers, this means one thing above all: those who can effectively translate tomorrow’s home design trends into concrete choices in the showroom will be able to clearly set themselves apart. Speaking on the topic is Ben van Elk, Marketing Director at Dekker Zevenhuizen.
During Küchenmeile, the company will therefore present its new trend collection for 2027. Under the names “Quiet Balance” and “Sculpted Space,” the company demonstrates how current home design trends can be translated into countertops, backsplashes, and accessories that can be directly incorporated into the kitchen specialist’s product line. “With this trend collection, we primarily want to offer practical inspiration to specialty retailers,” says Van Elk. “It’s not just about mood boards, but about combinations of materials, colors, and applications that retailers can use to provide concrete guidance to their customers.”
Quiet Balance responds to the need for tranquility, balance, and a break from sensory overstimulation. This trend aligns with an outdoor-oriented lifestyle, in which well-being, nature, and social interaction are becoming increasingly important. In the kitchen, this translates to soft shapes, organic lines, and a color palette inspired by shades of sand and the sea. Warm and cool elements are combined to create a harmonious whole. The kitchen island often takes on a more organic shape, making the kitchen look less stark and functional and instead inviting relaxation and connection.
Van Elk: “Natural stone finishes play an important role in this trend. Not as a distant, luxurious element, but rather as a material with character, detail, and variation. This creates a more personal look, giving each kitchen its own signature. For specialty retailers, Quiet Balance offers starting points for guiding customers who are looking for a calm, timeless kitchen that also feels contemporary. Think, for example, of the Qstone composite colors we’ll be introducing at the upcoming Küchenmeile.”

While Quiet Balance primarily seeks tranquility, Sculpted Space opts for expression. Dekker describes this trend as the new industrial: powerful, layered, and architectural. “The kitchen becomes almost a spatial sculpture, in which materials such as marble, metal, concrete, wood, and glass enhance one another. The palette ranges from light industrial tones to deep, mysterious dark shades. The look is high-end, but not ostentatious; rather, it’s understatedly glamorous, with a clear emphasis on contrast, placement, and composition,” says Van Elk.
It is precisely the combination of these two trends that makes the collection relevant for the showroom. They cater to different consumer preferences but stem from the same trend: the kitchen as a living space with its own character. Dekker supports the practical application of this concept with mood boards that combine colors and materials in warm and cool variations.
“As part of the Quiet Balance and Sculpted Space collections, we are introducing new colors and countertops in materials such as Evora Qstone, Ceramics, and laminate. Complemented by matching accessories, this creates a cohesive overall look that specialty retailers can use in consultations, presentations, and showroom displays.”
During the Küchenmeile, visitors will not only discover the trends for 2027, but—more importantly—how they can use these trends to make their showrooms more up-to-date, more distinctive, and more commercially successful. The complete trend collection is on display at the Dekker Trend Center in the Architekturwerkstatt in Löhne.
