The stove is once again taking center stage in kitchen design—not only as a cooking appliance, but also as a defining element. Steel responds to this trend with its Mistral series, which combines induction cooking and an integrated cooktop vent. By offering this technology across four design series and two sizes, the manufacturer aims to give kitchen designers more options for incorporating the stove into the overall design.
Steel Benelux has noticed that demand for distinctive kitchen designs is on the rise. While cabinets, countertops, and appliances are sometimes arranged closely together in various showrooms, a range can actually give a kitchen a different character. Steel has therefore opted not to offer a model with an integrated range hood, but instead has incorporated the Mistral technology into its existing design lines: Genesi, Ascot, Enfasi, and Oxford.
These range from modern and understated to more classically designed models. “We’ve noticed that kitchen designers are increasingly looking for products that allow them to create something truly unique,” says Christian Borsboom, managing director of Steel Benelux. “That’s why we’ve deliberately opted for a complete Mistral platform with different widths, design series, and installation options. This way, the range adapts to the design—not the other way around.”
In addition to the four design styles, there are two sizes. The 90-cm-wide version has one multifunctional oven; the 100-cm-wide model features two full-size ovens. Another feature is the Full Glass cooktop. The glass extends across the entire width of the appliance, without any metal side profiles. This creates a seamless transition between the stove and the countertop. Thanks to its flat surface, the cooktop is easy to keep clean.
There are also various options available for ventilation. By default, Mistral ranges can be used with recirculation. Regenerable carbon filters are included for this purpose, which, according to Steel, last for about two years under normal use. In addition, connection to an outdoor exhaust vent is possible, and the system can be combined with a plasma filter. This allows the kitchen designer to tailor the ventilation solution to the technical capabilities of the home.
Although design freedom is a key principle, Steel has also expanded the oven’s capabilities. The Genesi and Ascot models are available with Combi-Steam, which combines steam and hot air. These ovens can reach a maximum temperature of 315 °C.
Steel uses its proprietary Twin Vent system for heat distribution. In addition, the ranges come standard with a rotisserie and a core temperature probe. The probe communicates with the TFT color display, allowing the core temperature to be monitored during cooking. Production takes place in Carpi, Italy. Steel manufactures the ranges to order, after which they are assembled, inspected, and finished by specialized staff. In this way, the manufacturer maintains a production method that allows for a variety of configurations and finishes.
