Platform about design and technology in the kitchen, home, and bathroom industry

Small touches, big impact

Light does something to a person, even in the kitchen. First and foremost, light brings the necessary comfort to carry out daily operations in a kitchen. In addition, it is the mood creator par excellence. Lighting scenarios precisely tailored to the user's wishes emerge.

In the theater and at concerts we have been seeing it for much longer: lighting scenarios in which different fixtures and light colors interact with each other and are centrally controlled. More and more, lighting scenarios are also creeping into our homes. Naber developed the LIC LED system, a platform that allows it to realize individual lighting concepts in kitchens and adjacent living areas. "The simple plug-and-play installation technology enables quick and uncomplicated installation," the manufacturer explains. "Our extensive product range allows you to combine different luminaires in groups with LIC and thus present an individualized LED lighting installation to your customers."

Four building blocks

The LIC LED system comprises only four building blocks that can be combined according to requirements: converter, functional module, control unit and luminaire. The converter with its various connection options is a key item here. These can be connected to common mains voltages and frequencies anywhere in the world. A functional module provides additional control options. The converters can be equipped with two different functional modules: module 2 and module 3. Through wireless communication between the converters, the modules provide the user with various control options. For example, module 3 enables control via smartphone app. Are also available as control units: 1-channel remote control, 4-channel remote control, motion detector and an IR sensor.

Variation in terms of installation

The converter and functional modules make it possible to connect the luminaires centrally or decentrally, depending on the place of use. The various connected control units control the lighting systems individually or according to a set group of luminaires. "The desired lighting scenarios can be perfectly realized at various decentralized mounting points quickly and easily," adds the manufacturer.

Home Base

Operation of Naber's LIC LED system can now also be done with the convenient and simple LIC HOME BASE module. This allows lighting scenarios to be called up with a verbal command, for example to a smart speaker such as Amazon Echo or Google Home. So in addition to the option of working with a remote control or via a smartphone app, a third option is now available. As with the LIC LED system, the user can control up to four luminaire groups, or also individual luminaires, via the LIC HOME BASE module.

Various lighting scenarios are therefore on the horizon. Just think of scenarios such as cooking, working or eating where the light settings of the various fixtures are specifically set. A wireless connection between the LIC HOME BASE module and a Zigbee Bridge enables voice control. This Zigbee Bridge gets its control signals from an available Smart Speaker. An app on a smartphone or tablet is an alternative to the Zigbee Bridge.
