Renovations, compact living, and the kitchen’s growing role as a living space are leading to a new perspective on interior design. According to Van Opstal, the focus is no longer solely on a piece of furniture’s appearance, but increasingly on what happens behind the door. With solutions from supplier Kesseböhmer, the wholesaler is responding to the demand for greater comfort, organization, and efficient use of available space.
“In the past, people often looked at new construction first, but today we’re seeing a lot of focus on renovation and improving existing homes,” says Sophie Werbrouck, managing director of Van Opstal. “At the same time, there’s a growing demand for solutions that make existing spaces smarter, more comfortable, and more practical.”
Van Opstal represents Kesseböhmer, a manufacturer of functional hardware and storage systems for kitchens, walk-in closets, living spaces, and more. The manufacturer develops solutions that make better use of cabinet space while also ensuring easy access to the contents. As a result, the systems are well-suited to a market in which homes are becoming more compact and spaces are increasingly serving multiple functions.
One example of this is the Tandem III for tall cabinets. The system distributes the contents across the door and the cabinet body, making stored items easily accessible and well-organized. Especially in kitchens, where many different products and appliances need to be accommodated, efficient organization is playing an increasingly important role.
The FineLine LiniQ also fits in with the trend toward high-quality, personalized interiors. The wooden drawer dividers ensure that drawers can be organized neatly, while also adding a level of finish that matches the look and feel of custom-made furniture.
According to Werbrouck, the role of such solutions is shifting. “The kitchen has increasingly become a central living space. As a result, it’s not just about having enough storage space, but also about comfort, tranquility, and ease of use.”
This trend isn't limited to the kitchen. With Conero, for example, Kesseböhmer offers solutions for walk-in closet organization, allowing clothes and accessories to be stored neatly while remaining easily accessible.
Early next year, the product line will be further expanded with Ventara, a new system for corner cabinets. The solution was developed to make even hard-to-reach cabinet space more accessible and thus aligns with the same philosophy: making optimal use of existing space.
“Whether it’s a kitchen, a walk-in closet, or any other room, the need is really the same everywhere,” Werbrouck concludes. “People want to make the most of the available space without compromising on style or ease of use.”
