Recently, Chancellor Olaf Scholz visited the family-owned Häfele company in Nagold, Germany. During his visit, he gained insight into how a traditional industry can develop successfully and what issues concern employees and the company today. Häfele, originally a specialty hardware store, is now a global, leading specialist in furniture and building hardware, LED lighting and electronic access systems.

Sibylle Thierer, chairwoman of the Executive Board, led the company for 20 years until 2023 and introduced innovative concepts such as furniture lighting and room lighting. Gregor Riekena, CEO since January 2023, emphasized Häfele's future vision of making living and working spaces more functional, atmospheric and efficient.

During the tour, Chancellor Scholz was able to experience for himself the simple operation of lighting and access systems using just one network. He showed interest in the multifunctional use of rooms, which, for example, can be transformed from hotel rooms to offices or conference rooms in no time at all.

The visit concluded with an interactive dialogue between the Chancellor and Häfele employees, in which topics such as sustainability, social responsibility and cooperation between government and business were discussed.
