A new edition of area30 is just around the corner and Falmec is once again signing on present. With known and new design extractor hoods, there is always plenty to talk about. But this year many words will undoubtedly flow about the expansion of the Italian manufacturer. Because Falmec Netherlands has recently become Falmec Benelux.
Italian extractor hood specialist Falmec is a loyal exhibitor at area30, one of the attractions during the Küchenmeile. Falmec traditionally shows there some striking newcomers in the range. For visitors from the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg, there will certainly be a topic of conversation this year, namely that since July 1, 2023 it is no longer Falmec Netherlands, but Falmec Benelux. Eddy van Tongeren has joined the team as general manager to oversee the expansion: "The base of operations for all activities remains Lisse (NL), the expertise remains identical, the field of operations expands considerably."
Commercial co-manager Erwin A. van Steenwijk founded Falmec Netherlands in 2019, in cooperation with the Italian main house. Prior to that, he had been an importer of designer hoods for many years. In a relatively short time, Falmec Netherlands gained a foothold and grew into a brand to be reckoned with. "For the Benelux, we have drawn up a three-year plan with a focus on organic growth," van Steenwijk explains. "To present the same growth pattern as at that time in the Netherlands is almost utopian. An account manager for Belgium is high on the wish list, preferably someone who knows the market and is resident in Belgium."
As we have already mentioned, Falmec is known primarily for its designer extractor hoods that are true eye-catchers in any kitchen. But the Italian manufacturer is very proud to be at the forefront of trends as well as technology. For example, Falmec was riding on the success when the cooktop extractor fan was rapidly gaining popularity. "Monolith is a great example of how we combine cooktop extraction and design in one concept," van Steenwijk said. "Monolith is actually a convenient storage channel that rests on the worktop. In it then comes the 90-cm wide extraction element. To the left or right of the extraction element, there is then room for various storage modules for accessories (30, 60 or 90 cm wide), think spices, knives, cutting boards and other kitchen utensils as well as electrical outlets. Monolith has a matte black aluminum frame with a polished glass front on the vertical section. The system is further equipped with diffused light that provides an attractive effect."
