Spinning the kitchen
Making smart use of the available space, it has been a major theme in every kitchen design for years. But what if furniture could move by itself? From this somewhat crazy question emerged an innovative swivel and turn system. The first feat: a simple turntable for cabinets or refrigerators. Today we see a complete technology that completely transforms the way we use furniture.

Furniture that can move on its own? Easier said than done. Hettich's R&D specialists have succeeded. The technology is based on a combination of turning and swiveling in a fluid, arching motion. This allows cabinet modules, for example, to turn and open towards the user without collision. “No more awkward angles and no more awkward bending over to pick up things,” Hettich told us during the tour of the Interzum booth where we tested SpinLines in detail. “The contents of a cabinet or drawer literally move forward. The result: more overview, more convenience and a particularly elegant movement that also makes a visual difference.”

The applications of the SpinLines are versatile. In the kitchen, the system makes more efficient use of the available storage space, especially in corner cabinets or deeper modules. One of the current trends in the kitchen, namely cabinets that reach all the way to the ceiling, are also possible in a rotating and swiveling version. The creative possibilities this creates are virtually endless. Cupboards, partitions or even entire workplaces can be given a completely new function. In a living room, true multifunctional furniture is created, workstations can be conjured up or hidden with a simple twist. This flexibility fits perfectly with trends such as compact living and hybrid working and living spaces.

The fact that Hettich's SpinLines provide a host of functional benefits is obviously a nice bonus. At least as important is the aesthetic added value they bring. After all, the rotating elements give any interior a modern and dynamic look. “Thanks to the SpinLines, you can still do more with less,” says Hettich. “Design and ease of use really go hand in hand. With SpinLines, we provide additional creative possibilities with which kitchen builders, interior designers and designers can get to work. With the modular, rotating elements, you also adapt kitchens and interiors optimally to the wishes of the users. Now and in the future.”
