A dollop of tomato sauce that falls on the countertop, a sharp knife that causes a scratch, a pan that slips out of your hands, or a glass of red wine that gets knocked over: things can go wrong in many kitchens. It is therefore very important to protect kitchen surfaces as well as possible against such unforeseen events—for example, with the water-based furniture lacquer Bluefin Top-Antiscratch from the Austrian paint and lacquer manufacturer ADLER.
This colorless 2K lacquer has very high chemical resistance, excellent mechanical resistance, and high scratch resistance. Kitchen cabinets and worktops, as well as tables, chairs, doors, and cupboards, can therefore withstand rough handling. The lacquer can be applied with a spray gun and does not yellow. Aqua-Hardener 8451, also from ADLER, should be used as a hardener.
Bluefin Top-Antiscratch is suitable as a primer and topcoat for untreated surfaces and can also be used as a finish on pigmented lacquers and stains. The lacquer is available in various gloss levels. Gloss level 3 has been developed for the Dutch market to achieve a natural, untreated look. “In the Netherlands, one of the most popular lacquers is one that preserves the color of the wood. This is best achieved with a lacquer that does not color the wood and is as matte as possible, such as a lacquer with a gloss level of 5,” explains Dennis Huisman, Sales Manager Furniture Industry at ADLER Benelux. “However, for the Dutch market, we wanted an even more matt variant, resulting in a lacquer with a gloss level of 3. This lacquer has high chemical resistance, high ring resistance, and a natural appearance.” The lacquer for the Dutch market can only be used on light-colored woods; on a dark substrate, the matting agent causes haze formation.
