DKG and NoWa Kitchen create radically sustainable kitchen on industrial scale

DKG Group and NoWa Kitchen are teaming up to create circular kitchens on an industrial scale. DKG is a market leader in corporate kitchens. NoWa Kitchen is the most innovative kitchen startup in the Netherlands. Their collaboration will radically make the construction and renovation of rental housing more sustainable.

Tim Kaizer, Director NoWa Kitchen: "This is the first time that circular kitchens will be produced in the Netherlands by the tens of thousands per year. This will help the Netherlands have a fully circular economy by 2050." Ron van den Berg, Director of Business Development at DKG Group: "Together we are taking a giant leap forward. DKG makes 100,000 kitchens a year. We can produce NoWa's circular kitchens on an industrial scale."

Most circular kitchen in the Netherlands

Over the past five years, NoWa Kitchen developed the most circular kitchen in the Netherlands (Product Circularity Index = 90%, source: Alba Concepts). The kitchen consists largely of bio-based materials and detachable compounds. As a result, repair is easy, there is less waste and raw materials are more reusable.

DKG is the market leader in kitchens for corporate housing, with the Bruynzeel Kitchens and Keller kitchens brands. Its factory now makes 100,000 kitchens a year, including a bio-based kitchen line. With this manufacturing power, together they are scaling NoWa Kitchen's innovation to industrial numbers. It also allows tenants with a narrow budget to get a circular kitchen.

The circular economy is getting closer

The Netherlands wants to have a fully circular economy by 2050, in which reuse and repair are leading. The following applies to kitchens: You repair what is broken instead of replacing the entire kitchen. Old materials are reused for new kitchens. And you use only renewable raw materials.
For years, DKG's kitchens have consisted largely of recycled materials. In addition, DKG developed a bio-based kitchen, which consists of residual streams from agriculture and industry. Through their collaboration, NoWa Kitchen and DKG are combining their knowledge about detachability and bio-based materials.

As a result, for the first time in the Netherlands, they will produce kitchens on an industrial scale with bio-based materials and detachable compounds. This will bring a circular economy closer.

Sustainability deeply embedded

NoWa Kitchen is a start-up with a strong focus on innovation. The company continuously researches new bio-based materials and detachable compounds. Thanks to DKG's factory, capital strength and network, these innovations can be quickly scaled up to bring the circular economy closer.

Tim Kaizer, Director NoWa Kitchen: "This is the first time that circular kitchens will be produced in the Netherlands by the tens of thousands per year. This will help the Netherlands have a fully circular economy by 2050."
