After more than 90 years, D. ENGELS BV is leaving the Paardenmarkt in Antwerp. There, in 1927, began the business adventure of the family business that has now reached its 4e generation introduces.
On the industrial area of Malle and on an area of 70,000 m², the new distribution center from which the goods and products of the 3 business units of English Group be distributed, being Thermo Comfort (HVAC), English Surfaces (solid surface specialist) and English Electrical Wholesale. Thanks to scanning and screening of the goods, sorting and delivery will be done appropriately all the way to the vans and trucks. The new distribution system will facilitate direct and smooth delivery of current orders.
"By building this distribution center, we are further capitalizing on the development and growth of our family business", says Jan Engels, one of the directors of the Engels Group. "The project immediately represents a nice go-ahead for the fourth generation in the family business.".
Currently, Engels Group is a sizable SME with 70 employees and consolidated sales of 31 million euros in 2019. In that year, the Thermo Comfort division's volume growth also increased by as much as 20%. Over the entire coronagraph 2020, Engels Group expects a stabilization in terms of sales and this thanks to its creativity and entrepreneurial spirit. Indeed, following the corona crisis, a 4e division established English Health Care which focuses on health: mouth masks, UVC lamps... The brothers Marc Engels and Jan Engels are already hoping that economic growth will pick up by 2022 so that the fourth generation with Thomas Engels and Catherine Engels can further develop the company. The entire Engels family is already eagerly looking forward to the centenary in 2027.
