Everyone in the interior design profession knows it: it is essential to constantly innovate while minimizing the impact on the environment. After all, sustainability is not just a 'hot topic' anymore: the need to do something with it has really landed in all parts of the chain. For Arpa Industriale and Formica, the core value of 'striving for sustainability' was therefore once again central during MaterialDistrict in the Werkspoor cathedral in Utrecht, early March.
Together with sister company Formica, much attention was given to the Arpa, Formica, Fenix and Homapal brands at the surprising stand. Wendy Kap, responsible for marketing and communications at Arpa says, "We were extremely pleased with the stand. So I immediately give credit to Musa. Once again they managed to provide us with an inviting exhibition stand."
One of the highlights of the show was the unveiling of Formica's new collection called "Patterns. It is a comprehensive collection inspired by world-renowned luxury natural stone types, the timeless terrazzo, metallic effects and classic textile fabrics. "The Formica® Patterns Collection will enhance the overall look of interiors with these stunning HPL decors, which feature unique textures," says a visibly enthusiastic Wendy. "The innovative design process combines reclaimed materials, handmade artwork and modern techniques to create HPL with a contemporary yet timeless look."
"In addition, at our joint booth, the 'galaxy' of our sister companies shone: Arpa, Fenix, Formica, Homapal, Musa, Nemho, Trespa and Westag. This gave visitors a good idea of our diversity and partnerships in the field of material technology but also in achieving sustainability," Wendy explained.
A central theme that ran through the presentation was-as previously mentioned-sustainability. "As a company, we place tremendous importance on reducing our carbon footprint. For example, at Arpa and Fenix we have the game changer; BLOOM technology. You can best describe this as a core technology that uses lignin in the resins used to bind the layers of paper together. So it is a subtle innovation that is not visible on the surface but makes a difference in sustainability."
"Last year - during this fair - we introduced visitors to our new HPL," Wendy says. "I am now talking about TUET. It attracted attention again this year. The tactile waves in this surface are a pleasantly new and innovative experience in the field of HPL."
Homapal was also present during the fair. Wendy: "We presented this collection of decorative metal HPL together for the first time during Architect@Work. Again, we received many positive reactions to this and the combination with our other products makes everything a very complete offering for a wide variety of projects."
Satisfaction all round, then, at the headquarters in Schiedam, where of course follow-up appointments are now being scheduled as a result of a successful participation in the fair in Utrecht. "So when we look back on our participation, we have nothing to complain about," Wendy says, laughing in conclusion. "But above all, we are happy to see confirmation from the market that we are still on the right track and that the additions to our range offer plenty of opportunities in the market."
