Dutch kitchen brand Pelgrim is the first player in the industry to announce a complete halt to the production and sale of gas cooktops and stoves. The company, which has marketed gas cooktops since 1952, is focusing entirely on electric cooktops in view of the energy transition.

The original Dutch Pelgrim brand was founded in 1920 with the opening of the N.V. enamel factory Neerlandia by Messrs. J.M.G. Oorsprong and B.J. Pelgrim. After the discovery of natural gas, the first houses in the Netherlands were connected to natural gas in 1951. A year after that, Pelgrim started producing its gas stoves and later gas stoves. In 2022, the last Pelgrim gas cooktop rolled off the assembly line.
