Lighting in the kitchen must be functionally top notch. On the other hand, and this obviously applies to the fixtures that are visible, an attractive visual image is also a must. Hera focuses on both properties and does this even for those lighting fixtures that are not (always) in view.
Hera, the German lighting manufacturer from Enger committed to developing and manufacturing functional lighting modules, has long understood that both the lighting performance of a luminaire and its design play a major role. This is why Hera pays particular attention to both aspects when developing new solutions. For example, the new U-PAD F is given a wafer-thin design so that the lighting device is barely noticeable, if at all. "Ideal when you know that the U-PAD F is a fixture that you mount under the kitchen cabinet and thus must provide sufficient light of excellent quality on the worktop," explains Michael Hoekstra of Hera.

Only 8 mm surface height. That's how thin Hera's new U-PAD F is, which can provide both pure worktop lighting and ambient lighting, with dimming of course. The ability to choose, individually, between 3000K and 4000K adds this flexibility. Hands-free operation via an IR sensor adds to the flexibility. Switching on and off is done through a simple movement of the hands. "If you hold the hand a little longer in front of the IR sensor you activate the stepless dimming function," Hoekstra explains. The available memory function restores the previous dimming setting in the event of disconnection from the mains.

Hoekstra: "Surely the easiest thing, and also important to know, when it comes to lighting in the kitchen cabinet is that it is on when the cabinet is opened and that it is certainly also off when the cabinet is closed again. With our infrared-controlled 24V LED lighting modules you can be sure of that! An infrared sensor reacts to a simple movement (function 1) or when the cabinet is opened or closed (function 2). With the first option, the light turns on when the sensor detects a movement and turns off again with the next movement. Function 2 means that the integrated sensor will automatically turn on the lights as soon as someone opens the cabinet door. When the door is closed again, the light switches off again. The principle of a refrigerator so to speak." The sensor is attached with an adhesive tape provided or by drilling a 14.5mm hole.
