Smaller homes are increasingly in demand, especially in large cities, because living space is scarce and sometimes significantly more expensive than a few years ago. A functional kitchen with smart (storage) solutions is increasingly given the important task of not only integrating itself practically, but also harmonizing visually well with the living space. Nolte Küchen is responding to this growing demand and, as we have come to expect, does so with fervor.

Not that small kitchens are completely new to Nolte, of course. After all, a Nolte kitchen is always planned individually, so there has always been room for smaller kitchens at the German kitchen supplier. In the "Small Places - Big Ideas" campaign, Nolte now places compact kitchens at the center of attention and uses four examples to show how practical, cozy and attractive they can be implemented.

Living space for students - 17 m²

Students have always been looking for small apartments and shared housing because here rent is more affordable. Large kitchens are more of a pipe dream here, but often unavailable. But one can use the space as efficiently as possible if the height up to the ceiling is well utilized: for example, by upper cabinets with a height of up to 135 cm or even extra-deep cabinets. In this way, as much storage space as possible is created, the apartment appears tidier and thus immediately larger. A fun fact: research has shown that studying is easier in an orderly environment. Narrow cooktops further ensure that more space is available on the worktop, and base cabinets with a height of 90 cm also offer 20%
more storage space.

Micro apartments - 24 m²

The optimal layout of an apartment of about 24 square meters requires functional design and efficient use of storage space, where aesthetics are especially important. Partitions and furniture can be used to structure the space and create different living areas. By using a uniform decor, which can be seen in the kitchen and shelves, a harmonious overall appearance is created. A salient detail, for example, is the extra-high wall units up to 135 cm and socket drawers that make even the last "corners" usable. 

Apartments under the sloping roof - 28 m²

Tight spaces and sloping roofs are also a challenge for residents if the apartment is less than 50 square meters, for example. At the same time, however, this architecture offers unique charm and character. Those who plan cleverly can use shelves, low overhead cabinets and various corner solutions to create a cozy and inviting kitchen. To make perfect use of even the last 15 cm of a kitchen planning, an extendable ball cabinet for bottles of olive oil and spices, for example, is ideal. A corner cabinet with swivel carousel is a smart option for storing kitchen utensils and appliances without wasting valuable space. With deep lowered cabinets, even narrow aisles can be arranged - yet enough space remains to walk through. 

Old buildings - 54 m²

Especially with old buildings, many people cherish the desire to preserve and emphasize the natural, historic charm of the architecture. These homes are often distinguished by beautiful details such as high ceilings, stucco and wooden floors - however, they do not have to be large.
