They have high expectations for the service they will continue to roll out this year. Déborah and Pieter, from Pieter Kuiper Keuken(de)montage in Middenmeer, are therefore—rightly—enthusiastic about ‘De Overbruggingskeuken,’ which the Dutch kitchen market is now really going to get to know.
“The principle is simple,” say the enterprising duo. “Every consumer who orders a new kitchen knows that there is a delivery time. But that consumer also knows that all kinds of technical adjustments often have to be made to the kitchen space before the new kitchen can actually be installed. So, the old kitchen has to go. But then what? You can't go two weeks without a kitchen, whether you're a family, a single person, or a couple, can you?”
“It's a great addition to our existing services,” says Pieter. “Dismantling a kitchen is a skill in itself. People know that. We've been doing this work successfully for many years for a wide range of kitchen specialists throughout the Netherlands. But before a new kitchen can be installed, there are often many other jobs that need to be done in that kitchen space. These can range from applying new stucco, which also needs to dry for a few days, to moving the water and electrical connections because the new kitchen has a different layout.”
“However, as a consumer, you don't order food from Thuisbezorgd.nl for two weeks. Nor do you eat out every night because you can't go anywhere at home. No, you want to be in control. You want to cook for yourself. After dismantling the old kitchen, we install a temporary mobile bridging kitchen.”
When we go back to work during the day to prepare the kitchen space for the new kitchen, we disconnect everything. In the evening, the temporary kitchen is easy to connect. Cooking can resume. We sometimes joke that this is a form of luxury camping in your own home.’
The pair are convinced that the temporary kitchen is also ideal if the delivery of the new kitchen is unexpectedly delayed. “That's not the news you want to hear as a consumer, of course. But that shouldn't mean you have to put up with being inconvenienced in your own home for longer. Even then, the temporary kitchen offers a solution.”
And when the new kitchen finally arrives, the temporary kitchen can be removed from the house in less than fifteen minutes. “We started this last year,” conclude Deborah and Pieter. “Consumers were happy with it. They immediately saw the practical side of it. Kitchen specialists also had an extra argument in their sales pitches to consumers. So it makes sense that we are now offering this on a wider scale. The practical temporary kitchen is conquering the Netherlands. Simply because it is practical and no one wants any hassle during a period of dismantling, repair, and reassembly.”
