Entrepreneur Ruud van Mourik has more than 30 years of experience in the kitchen industry. Nevertheless, he only recently began his own adventure - a step he dared to take thanks in part to the encouragement of his closest friends. With that dose of experience, passion and a clear vision of the future, he founded Mourik Keukens.

Upon entering, the showroom still smells completely like new. Although the finishing touches still need to be added, the showroom is more than exceptional. All the really significant kitchen innovations under one roof in a showroom that not only informs, but also surprises and thus inspires.

The showroom on the Harselaarseweg in Barneveld is therefore not your average kitchen store. On 1,100 m² Mourik Keukens presents exclusively high-quality Ballerina kitchens - this exclusive choice and cooperation makes the studio unique in the Netherlands. Van Mourik is proud of the final result. "We came across this property and the space was perfect, but didn't immediately fit like a tailor-made suit. We really had to make it fit with all parties. That's always an exciting period, but it really turned out beautifully."

Temporary started over eatery in Voorthuizen

What few people know is that Mourik Keukens began temporarily above an eatery in Voorthuizen. Van Mourik was able to stay here until the showroom was completely remodeled. "That café belongs to a relative. We were given a space there temporarily. It was a unique and authentic period. We had a special, but also great time there."

Van Mourik is an entrepreneur who likes to look for real partnerships. This is also how he deals with his customers. 'We were also extremely lucky with the parties involved in bringing about this showroom. A contractor who not only accepts but also thinks along and came up with good ideas and then the qualities of MiMa Agency that really surprised me."

Unique exclusive partnership 

The entire showroom is furnished with Ballerina kitchens - a deliberate and bold choice, made in close cooperation with MiMa Agency, the German kitchen supplier's Dutch agent. Van Mourik: "I believe in Ballerina as a supplier and a company. I like the way they work. The short lines of communication really add value. They have even come from Ballerina Germany to see our showroom. But my employees also find Ballerina a great party to work with. All this together made the choice easy. Everyone is behind the idea and Ballerina and MiMa Agency have acted as cooperating partners."

And if you would think that an experienced kitchen entrepreneur like Van Mourik could not be more surprised when presenting showroom advice ... you would be wrong. MiMa's presentation impressed him immensely: "I was silent. Silent with positivism.
And surprised. Surprised at how they wanted to lay out the showroom. Extraordinary that we adopted this almost one-to-one. I couldn't have imagined that beforehand. It shows that at MiMa they not only listened carefully, but were also strong in execution. Actually, everything is perfect. We only had to dot some i's and cross some i's. For example, we ourselves wanted a little more attention to the inside drawers. But I can recommend this to anyone. MiMa has turned out to be a good total partner, because the fact that they also have knowledge of kitchens is really an added value. It actually doubles your knowledge. I experienced that as very pleasant."

Van Mourik praises not only the design and execution, but also MiMa's way of working - and notes that it fits remarkably well with his own way of working. "They work the way we also like to work. Transparent, with sincere attention, overview and knowledge. That felt immediately familiar."

So would he do it exactly the same way again if he were to start over now? In that, Van Mourik is resolute: "A resounding yes! With all the parties that have been involved now as well."
