Every kitchen is used for cooking, which requires a multitude of appliances and utensils. Nobody likes to leave these out on display, especially now that kitchens and living rooms are increasingly being designed as one large space. Various practical solutions are available to make effective use of every kitchen cabinet, even the narrowest and most difficult to reach ones.
Van Opstal specializes in furniture technology, not as a manufacturer but as an (exclusive) importer and distributor of more than 900 brands. One of these foreign brands is the German company Kesseböhmer. Van Opstal has been the exclusive importer of this manufacturer's range for the Benelux since 1967. The recent anniversary and the creation of a brand-new catalog was the perfect moment for Van Opstal to thoroughly review Kesseböhmer's range and bring it fully in line with current trends.

“The Tandem pantry provides up to 85% more overview than traditional drawers,” calculates Jacques Werbrouck of Van Opstal.
2019 Catalog
Jacques Werbrouck from Van Opstal: “In the new catalog, we have created a very nice overview of all Kesseböhmer solutions that we have available in Belgium. We identified three popular finishes: silver, chrome, and anthracite. These are clearly indicated for each product, as are the corresponding accessories. A Kesseböhmer solution always has three characteristics: overview, accessibility, and flexibility,” says Werbrouck. “They provide a clear overview of the products in the cabinet, everyone can immediately grab the product they want, and the hanging shelves are height-adjustable to suit your needs.”
Convenient pantry
Column cabinets in kitchens are usually used to store supplies. Kesseböhmer's solution is called Tandem. It consists of a series of hanging shelves that are placed in the cabinet and shelves that are mounted on the inside of the front. Opening the door brings the shelves in the cabinet forward. This gives the user an immediate overview of where the products are located, without having to search for them. The shelves in the cabinet and those on the front can be adjusted in height at any time. Werbrouck: “Tandem is available in different cabinet widths and heights. It forms a perfect duo with a built-in refrigerator of the same height. Dry food and fresh food are always close together.”
Hot off the press
A second newcomer to the Kesseböhmer range, so new that it is not even listed in the catalog, is the Turnmotion II. This handy solution will prove particularly useful in cabinets above built-in appliances such as ovens or refrigerators. Werbrouck: “These cabinets are typical examples of where potential is not being fully exploited. They are deep and usually just a little too high to easily reach the back of the cabinet. To avoid having to use a stepladder every time, Kesseböhmer developed the Turnmotion II. This set consists of two 360° rotating shelves which, like all other solutions, are height-adjustable.” After a turning movement, the shelves always stop with the long sides at the front and back. “Otherwise, the cabinet can no longer be closed,” adds Werbrouck. Each shelf can carry up to 20 kg.
