Broaden your horizons

Everyone needs light, everywhere. So it makes sense for a lighting manufacturer to develop a wide range of solutions for different applications. Hera is also taking that step. The manufacturer is broadening its horizons in 2020.

German manufacturer Hera specializes in the design and production of lighting solutions that can be used in numerous situations. For example, they have an extensive range of fixtures that are mounted under kitchen cabinets to provide the worktop, stove and sink with the necessary quality light. But Hera's range includes more than just these fixtures.

Daylight inside

Hera's already well-known Dynamic White series gained an innovative newcomer at the beginning of this year. The impact of daylight on human well-being is great and Hera knows that too. With Sky Window, the manufacturer brings "sunshine wherever it is needed. "Sky Window allows the user to create natural daylight in any interior space," explains Michael Hoekstra of Hera. "This is possible thanks to full-spectrum LEDs (Sunlike-LED) and smart daylight control. We can recreate stunning and real daylight effects by simulating an illuminated sky in 3D and connecting solar radiation to it." The Sunlike LEDs used provide a color rendering Ra>95. Via the configuration screen or the accompanying app, this color rendering is infinitely adjustable between 2,500K and 10,000K. "Sky Window" has an impressive brightness of 3,000 lux (for the 60 x 60 cm version) and 4,500 lux (60 x 120 cm) and this at an installation height of 3 meters. The integrated smart lighting control takes care of the 24-hour rhythm and can even switch between different time zones worldwide." Up to 64 Sky Window fixtures can be controlled and switched in parallel. The two available sizes are 60 x 60 cm (flush mount) and 60 x 120 cm (recessed and surface mount).

Entering new markets

Hera is also betting on a very specific sector, something completely different from the kitchen industry. At the past EuroShop trade fair, the manufacturer launched its hotel range with fixtures for hotels and on ships, a specific industry with specific wishes and needs. "Our hotel range allows design concepts to be realized in detail, even in cabins and guest rooms on cruise ships," Hoekstra emphasizes. "Our new hotel catalog has 48 applications and is packed with possible applications and solutions for ten different sample rooms so that they are presented in a high-quality and attractive way. Admittedly, we do not limit our range to large hotel chains or private (smaller) hotels. Owners of hostels, dormitories for students, youth hostels and residential care centers will also undoubtedly find something to their liking in our catalog."

Thus, Hera developed a series of reading luminaires that nicely complement the hotel concept. BL1-LED, the name of the series, are fixtures in a timeless design that are also easy to operate. Recessed and surface-mounted versions are available. The head of the luminaire is very flexible so that almost any position is possible. BL1-LED is available in black and stainless steel finishes with a color temperature of 3000K. "Moreover, with a CRI>90 and a luminous flux of 100 lm/W, the series delivers real reading comfort," Hoekstra adds.
